U6-U13 Developmental Program - Open Registration:
The purpose of this U6-U13 Open Registration program is to provide the community with a level of youth soccer between the existing local recreational program and the local LMSC premier-competitive program. Initially this program is U6-U13 but we plan for this program to eventually include all players U6 (elementary school) to U18 (varsity high school).
Objective of U6-U13 Developmental Program - Open Registration:
The objectives of the program are:
- To keep our kids in the sport of soccer for the long-term.
- To develop competent soccer players (through skill acquisition by LMSC training) who enjoy playing the sport and to learn life skills from the sport.
- To provide those players who wish - the opportunity to move into and try the LMSC premier-competitive level program.
Age Structure and Season Duration:
U6-U8: U6-U8 Teams will practice 1-2 times a week, depending on field availability to be determined for the second practice. Practice will start mid-August and end by the beginning of November. U6-U7 play a 3-v-3 format and U-8 play 4-v-4. These age groups participate in 4 vs. 4 scrimmages against each other during weekend play dates, and when possible, against U6-U8 teams from other East Bay soccer clubs in LMSC's NorCal District 3-4.
U9-U13: U9-U13 practice 1-2 times a week, depending on field availability to be determine for the second practice. Practice will start mid-August and end in November. U9-U10 play an 8-v-8 format and U11-U13 format is 11 v 11. U9- U13 teams may be combined into U9-U10 and U11/12 or U12/U13 teams for purposes of league play.
LMSC is a member of NorCal and CYSA District 3-4 League which includes a number of neighboring East Bay competitive soccer clubs with similar Development type programs. This year LMSC is pleased to announce that the U9-U13 teams will be playing in the NorCal Region 3-4 Bronze league, which will include 8-10 home and away games with local clubs from Walnut Creek, Montclair, Peidmont, San Ramon, Danville, and possibly others with similar fall programs. The DPO teams will also have a uniform package this year from our Puma Sponsor.
There will be, on average, one game per weekend. The exact location of league play for 2012 DPO U9-U13 DPO teams will be announced as soon as LMSC determines what will be the most suitable match for the development and experience of this year's DPO pool of players.
All age groups U6-U13 will be trained by LMSC Coaches; training being the more important feature of player development. Parent volunteers will act as coaches at games. LMSC will offer game/coaching clinics to parent coaches and LMSC coaches will provide oversight at games when available.
U6-U13 Training Philosophy:
Players practice (1-2 days a week throughout the season) in a fun and encouraging environment and are given plenty of freedom to learn through experimenting, or by trial and error. During this phase of development a player develops his/her own individual relationship with the ball (personal style of play) and learns how effective he/she can be in achieving the game's various objectives, i.e., starts to develop an insight for his/her own individual play.
